I began my weight loss journey in 2010 with simple exercises, diet changes and portion control and I did have some success. Then I went to the HCG diet and lost 20 lbs which I gained back. I decided to make some serious changes and watched my caloric intake, went to a gym 3x per week, stopped drinking all sodas and reach 160lbs in 2 years.
I was bored and hit a plateau with my regular workouts. So one day in February 2013, I stopped by CrossFit Cedar Park. I went by myself and didn’t know anyone. I thought I was in shape, but realized quickly that I wasn’t in “CrossFit” shape. In the beginning, I was intimidated, but it changed very quickly. People I didn’t even know would cheer me on when I was last place on a workout. It was so motivating and kept me pushing forward to do accomplish goals I never even know I had.
I started Advocare products in May of 2013 and then began to change my food intake using the Paleo/Zone diet. This helped with my overall recovery and my fat loss. Currently I am training for a half marathon. I run on my CrossFit rest days and feel like only CrossFit [Cedar Park] has been able to make me strong enough to obtain my goals. In fact, just yesterday I ran a straight 3 miles with no walking at all. I am still working on becoming stronger and becoming more comfortable with the more complex CrossFit movements to be able to complete most wods RX.
I am back to my high school sizes and smaller than when I got married 25 years ago. I’ve lost the last 18lbs and my body fat has dropped significantly. I have become leaner, faster, stronger and my endurance level is amazing. The community and the friends I have made has been an overall life changing experience.
