Coach Nikki Isbell

Nikki Isbell was running around like a nut with her very own sign after winning the team portion of  The Fittest Games.

Many of you have had the opportunity to see Nikki compete, but do you know where she started? You can go back and look at her blogs and get a good idea of why Nikki started CrossFit. It was at another CrossFit,  her friends were doing it, it was bathing suit season and she wanted to look good. She “crossfitted” but without passion and fire. Her goals were different and didn’t include becoming a competitor.  One day I saw her walking out of our clinic location with a bounce in her step and she kind of smiled and flipped her long black hair at me. I walked in and immediately asked David “who is that?” His response included her name and why she was at the clinic, but he also said “I can send her to the games.”

I remember one of Nikki’s first goals was to get 10 pullups in a row, which she quickly accomplished. Soon she was doing way more than that, attending her CF-L1 cert and getting her NASM Certification as well. Nikki has a thirst for knowledge and a passion for CrossFit. She started coaching at 5:30am and very few people showed up. She stuck with it and now  that class is often busting at the seams. Fast forward to Regional competition in 2009 when out of nowhere, you could see the fire in Nikki when she was competing. If you’ve seen this, you know the harder the movements and the more tired she gets, the faster she moves. She qualified and went the CrossFit Games in 2009 when it was still being held at The Ranch.

The fact is, after two kids, marriage to a sheriff, stepmom to the  birthday girl, head coach of our crossfit, and workout time- juggler, Nikki is better now than she was in 2009. Just ask this blogger who decided Nikki was on his list of Top 10 CrossFit Coach Crushes.
